Dangerous is the eighth solo studio album by American singer Michael Jackson, released November 21, 1991 by Epic Records. It marked his first full-length project without longtime collaborator Quincy Jones, signalling a new era of creative control and musical experimentation.
The album was co-produced by Jackson alongside Bill Bottrell, Bruce Swedien, and Teddy Riley, whose signature New Jack Swing beats underpin a blend of pop, R&B, industrial, funk, hip-hop, gospel, classical, and rock elements. Guest appearances include Heavy D, Princess Stéphanie of Monaco, Slash, and Wreckx-n-Effect, adding diverse textures to the soundscape.
Upon its release, Dangerous debuted at number one on the US Billboard Top Pop Albums chart, outpacing both Thriller and Bad, and was certified quadruple platinum within two months. It became the best-selling album worldwide of 1992, cementing Jackson's status as a global pop icon.
