Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs is the only studio album by Derek & The Dominos, released on 9 November 1970 as a double LP by Polydor Records (UK) and Atco Records (US). Initially a critical and commercial disappointment, it eventually peaked at number 16 on the US Billboard Top LPs chart and earned RIAA Gold certification within months of its release.
Featuring Eric Clapton on guitar and vocals alongside Bobby Whitlock (keyboards), Carl Radle (bass) and Jim Gordon (drums), the album is defined by soulful blues-rock dynamics and the landmark title track “Layla.” Duane Allman guests on lead and slide guitar across 11 of the 14 songs, adding a signature Southern rock edge to the sessions recorded in Miami and Jacksonville.
