Fleetwood Mac's third studio album, Then Play On , was released on 19 September 1969. It marked the band's stylistic expansion from pure electric blues into folk rock, hard rock, psychedelia, and art rock. This is the first original LP to feature Danny Kirwan and the final one with Peter Green, solidifying a pivotal transitional lineup for the group. The title is lifted from Shakespeare's Twelfth Night : "If music be the food of love, play on." The album reached No. 6 on the UK Albums Chart, becoming their third Top 10 and fourth consecutive Top 20 release.
