The Allman Brothers Band At Fillmore East & Eat A Peach
Where Southern rock was born, on audiophile vinyl.
Before Southern rock was a genre, there was the Allman Brothers Band. Blending blues, rock, country, and jazz with twin-guitar firepower, they created the blueprint that bands like Lynyrd Skynyrd and the Marshall Tucker Band would follow. If you want to start a Southern rock collection, or complete one, this is where it begins. These two albums capture the original lineup at its peak, featuring the legendary guitar work of Duane Allman and Dickey Betts.
The Allman Brothers Band – At Fillmore East (2LP, Audiophile)
Recorded in New York in March 1971, At Fillmore East is widely considered one of the greatest live albums ever made. Classics like “Statesboro Blues,” “In Memory of Elizabeth Reed,” and the epic “Whipping Post” stretch into soaring, improvised jams that defined the Southern rock sound. On audiophile vinyl, it feels like you’re right there in the room.
The Allman Brothers Band – Eat A Peach (2LP, Audiophile)
Released in 1972 after the tragic loss of Duane Allman, Eat A Peach is both a tribute and a triumph. It pairs heartfelt studio recordings like “Melissa” and “Blue Sky” with more live material from the same legendary Fillmore East shows, including the marathon “Mountain Jam.” Soulful, emotional, and deeply Southern.
