Nick Drake recorded Pink Moon in two midnight sessions in October 1971. Just him, his guitar, and a piano on one track. No overdubs. No band. No second takes.

He delivered the tapes to Island Records, left them at the front desk, and walked out. The receptionist found them the next morning.

Eleven songs. Twenty-eight minutes. Every note matters.

This is the album that makes people stop talking when it comes on. The one that sounds like 3 AM feels. Drake's fingerpicking is intricate and hypnotic, his voice so close you can hear him breathe. There's no production to hide behind - just stark, unfiltered songwriting that somehow sounds more modern now than it did in 1972.

Pink Moon wasn't a hit when it was released. Drake died three years later at 26, largely unknown. Decades later, it's recognized as one of the most influential albums ever made—covered by everyone, licensed by Volkswagen, studied by guitarists, treasured by anyone who's ever felt too much at midnight.

This 180-gram pressing gives you the details that matter: the complexity of Drake's alternate tunings, the resonance of his Martin guitar, the intimacy of his voice recorded close and dry. Heavyweight vinyl means better bass response, less surface noise, more of what makes this album breathtaking.

Why this album belongs in your collection:
Because some music doesn't entertain you, it keeps you company. Pink Moon is the album for when you need something that understands without explaining. It's proof that sometimes less is more, that silence can be as powerful as sound, and that the quietest albums often say the most.
